She looked over her shoulder as she walked
A mere shadow and inwardly in fear she balked
Glaring at the watch, willing the hands to move slower
Worries over her head constantly hovered
A city girl she, her confident steps she counts
Ignoring the lecherous looks and covert taunts
The night descended but her day was long
Wasn't she clever, wasn't she strong?
Chatting on the phone to allay her fears
Strolling with a friend, keeping him near
The night was deep and so was her belief
Soiled hands, forceful tongue; His presence no relief
Cries arose, virtual walls vibrated
Outrage over Twitter constantly circulated
The safe haven safe no more
A woman she was, never secure
The man captured, put to shame
Her scars, her nudity, her claim to fame
Matter forgotten humanity moved on
False sense of security, strength conned
Another city, another night deeply yawned
He woke again, he was the human spawn...
