The Ride to Peace

To walk the well-trodden path
To believe in what other's eyes see,
To live a life blindly
Is not what I can be...
Feeling the wind rush through
The sun as it scorches naked skin
Rain pelts the wounds anew
Making me cringe in ecstasy...
Eyes slits against the dust
Pupils dilated take in the wonder
Dogs trampled over, trucks over-turned
I stare at sights in wide-eyed wonder...
The smooth, trodden way passes by
I continue on the pebbled road
The wind rustling through my hair
Clouds create a cool cover...
Streams sooth tired eyes
Raindrops quench parched pores
The beauty of the land mesmerizing
A haven, virgin, untouched...
Screeching wheels battle rest
I let my lids droop low
And easing my hold over the pain
Finally, let my body go.
